Clonmel was placed sixth overall in the Irish Business against Litter 2010 competition, the results of which were announced on the 10th of January. The town is classified as being clean to European norms. The town was placed fourth in the same competition in 2009. The top ranking sites in the town included O’Connell Street, Mitchell Street, St. Peter and Paul’s CBS School and Oakville Shopping Centre. These sites were described in the report as not only being clear of litter but also being very well presented and maintained.
This result is very satisfactory for the town. It reflects the successful efforts of the Tidy Towns Committee, the business community, the Borough Council and its staff, and the people of Clonmel.
